Volga brand relaunches in Russia using Geely technology

The historic Volga brand has returned to the Russian market with a new lineup consisting of three models: the C50 sedan, the K40 crossover, and the K50 SUV. While produced in Nizhny Novgorod, the vehicles are based on technology and models developed by the Chinese manufacturer Geely. Specifically, the C50 is derived from the Geely Preface, the K40 from the Atlas, and the K50 from the Monjaro.

Mass production began in April 2026, with commercial sales launching in June. The K40 crossover features a modern design with LED lighting and offers two gasoline engine options: a 1.5-liter engine producing 147 hp with front-wheel drive, and a 2.0-liter engine producing 200 hp paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the Nizhny Novgorod automotive hub on August 28 to observe the assembly line and the new models, including a test drive of the K50.
