Volhynia region sees historical exhumations and civilian unrest

In the Volyn region near the Polish border, the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) is conducting exhumations of victims from the Volhynia massacre. Local residents in villages such as Ostrówek have expressed varying perspectives on the historical events. Some locals claim that their specific village remained peaceful and suggest that historical violence was instigated by Soviet forces or individuals acting on behalf of the NKVD, rather than local Ukrainian populations.

Separately, in Lutsk, a confrontation occurred involving recruitment officials from the Regional Recruitment and Social Assistance Center (TCK). Following a failed attempt to stop a driver who refused to provide identification, a group of approximately 30 civilians reportedly physically attacked the officials. The incident resulted in injuries to personnel and damage to a service vehicle, including broken windows and stolen equipment. An investigation by the Volyn National Police is underway.
