Volim Zrenjanin journalists targeted by life threats

The editorial staff of the local portal ‘Volim Zrenjanin’ has reported serious threats to their lives and safety. The incident began with a comment posted under an article stating, ‘there is no medicine for you, only a bullet,’ followed by an intense phone call to the editor, Aleksandar Blanuša.

During the call, a man identified himself by name and issued further threats, including an invitation to a specific address in Zrenjanin with the intent to cause physical harm. The suspect reportedly declared himself a ‘ćaci’ and expressed support for the Serbian Progressive Party. The suspect has since been detained by police.

The Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM) has strongly condemned the attacks and called on authorities to sanction the individual to ensure journalist safety. While the prosecutor's office and police have initiated proceedings, the editorial team expressed deep concern for the security of their staff and families.
