Volker Beck urges Berlin SPD and Greens to reject Die Linke coalition
Volker Beck, president of the German-Israeli Society, has called on the Berlin branches of the SPD and the Greens to publicly reject any potential coalition with Die Linke Berlin ahead of the upcoming House of Representatives election.
In a letter addressed to top candidates Steffen Krach and Werner Graf, Beck argues that Die Linke tolerates and promotes antisemitism within its ranks. He specifically cited the appearance of rapper Dahabflex at a campaign event in Neukölln, where slogans such as ‘Yalla Yalla Intifada’ and ‘Death to the IDF’ were used. Beck noted that the Neukölln district association of Die Linke expressed solidarity with the rapper rather than distancing itself from the remarks.
Beck emphasized the need for a ‘firewall’ against antisemitism from both the right and the left, stating that Die Linke has identified itself as an ‘antisemitism-prone project’ through its lack of clarification on these issues. The letter is supported by former Green Party Member of Parliament Kerstin Müller.
