Volkstanzgruppe Edelweiss celebrates 90th anniversary

The Volkstanzgruppe Edelweiss Klagenfurt celebrated its 90th anniversary with a jubilee evening held in the festival hall of Krumpendorf. Founded in July 1936 in Hörtendorf, the group focuses on preserving regional Austrian folk dances, music, and traditions.

During the event, Klagenfurt Mayor Christian Scheider presented the group with the ‘Gläserner Lindwurm’ as a token of appreciation for their contribution to cultural heritage. The group has evolved its traditions over the decades, transitioning from wearing Lobisser costumes at its founding to the Untergailtaler festive costume, which has been worn since 1950.
