Volkswagen Amarok crash kills pedestrian in La Plata, Argentina

Julio César Suárez died in La Plata after being struck from behind by a Volkswagen Amarok pickup on 23 June. The 25‑year‑old was hit while walking and pulling a cart, was rushed to Hospital San Roque in Gonnet and remained in critical condition for a month before passing away. Prosecutor Ana Scarpino’s office has re‑classified the case from “culpable injuries” to “culpable homicide” as investigators review security‑camera footage and forensic evidence to determine driver responsibility. The driver, identified by authorities, left the scene after briefly assisting the victim and is currently under investigation.
