Volkswagen and Chery unveil new electric mobility products in Indonesia

Chery Q, the Chinese automaker’s new urban electric car, was test‑driven on a limited route in Bekasi, Indonesia. The model, equipped with a 15.6‑inch touchscreen, 540‑degree HD rear camera and rear‑wheel‑drive layout, is slated for a public debut at the 2026 GIIAS and is expected to be priced around IDR 200 million. Although the test vehicle has left‑hand steering and will not be sold locally in that configuration, Chery says the production version will share the same specifications for the Indonesian market.

Volkswagen, in partnership with premium e‑bike specialist n+, introduced a new smart e‑bike featuring a "Smart View" system that combines a rear‑facing camera with radar to alert riders of approaching vehicles. The bike includes an integrated handlebar display, LED strip lighting that signals braking and turning, a connected helmet with collision‑detection alerts, and fighter‑pilot‑style smart glasses that project navigation and traffic warnings. Both launches aim to enhance safety and convenience for urban commuters in Indonesia.
