Volkswagen begins ID. Cross electric vehicle production in Spain

Volkswagen has commenced mass production of the ID. Cross electric vehicle at its Landaben plant in Navarra, Spain. The first unit produced is a Life trim model destined for the German market.

The ID. Cross is a compact crossover built on the MEB+ platform and will be sold in 34 countries. It features three power levels (85, 99, and 155 kW) using electric motors manufactured in Győr, Hungary. Battery options include a 37 kWh LFP battery and a 52 kWh NMC battery, utilizing the group’s new cell-to-pack technology. The larger battery variant offers a WLTP range of up to 427 kilometers.

The Landaben facility has undergone a significant transformation to support electric vehicle assembly, involving over 290,000 hours of specialized staff training. The plant maintains a flexible production approach, manufacturing both electric and internal combustion engine models on the same infrastructure. In addition to the ID. Cross, the site produces the electric Škoda Epiq, as well as the combustion-engine Volkswagen T-Cross and Taigo.
