Volkswagen launches facelifted Multivan and California models

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has launched production of the updated Multivan and California models. Both vehicles feature a redesigned front end, a completely reworked cockpit, improved lighting technology, and an expanded range of driver assistance systems.

The Multivan achieved a record 38,700 deliveries in 2025, marking its most successful year in its 41-year history. Production for the California camper model is also undergoing a significant change; starting in August, it will be manufactured entirely at the Hanover plant on new production lines to increase efficiency by integrating vehicle assembly and camper conversion in one location.

Powertrain options for both models include the eHybrid 4MOTION plug-in hybrid system, which delivers 180 kW (245 hp) using a 19.7 kWh lithium-ion battery. Other available engines include a 110 kW (150 hp) TDI diesel and a 150 kW (204 hp) TSI petrol engine, both paired with a DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.
