Volkswagen launches 170 hp full‑hybrid Golf and T‑Roc models

Volkswagen has introduced a non‑plug‑in full‑hybrid powertrain for its Golf and T‑Roc compact models. The system combines a 1.5 TSI gasoline engine with two electric motors and a 1.6 kWh high‑voltage battery, delivering 125 kW (170 hp) and 309 Nm of torque. It operates in three automatic modes – pure electric, series (engine drives generator) and parallel – allowing the car to run on electric power at low speeds and to boost performance at higher speeds.

Initial orders have opened in Germany and Italy, with pricing of €41,400 for the Golf Hybrid R‑Line and €44,470 for the T‑Roc Hybrid Style. Consumption figures show a 10‑15 % fuel saving overall and up to a 35 % reduction in urban CO₂ emissions, corresponding to WLTP combined figures of about 4.6‑5.1 l/100 km (≈19.6‑21.7 km/l) for the Golf and 5‑5.6 l/100 km (≈17.9‑20 km/l) for the T‑Roc. First deliveries are scheduled for early autumn 2026. Volkswagen has not confirmed a rollout to Brazil yet.
