Volkswagen launches ID. Aura T6 in China and offers US discounts
Volkswagen is expanding its electric vehicle presence in China with the launch of the ID. Aura T6, a mid-sized electric SUV. Developed on the CEA platform in collaboration with Xpeng, the model is positioned to compete aggressively in the Chinese market against rivals such as BYD, Geely, and Toyota. The vehicle offers various trim levels with prices starting at 129,900 yuan and features a range of 540 km to 660 km depending on the battery capacity.
Simultaneously, the company is managing inventory for other models following production shifts. In the United States, Volkswagen is offering significant discounts on the ID. 4 and ID. 5 models to clear existing stock. Specifically, the 2025 ID. 4 model is seeing discounts of up to $12,500, while the 2026 version carries a $6,000 discount. These incentives follow a decline in sales volume for the ID. 4 after its peak in 2023.
