Volkswagen Polo, Taigo and T‑Roc face clutch cylinder defect that can leave cars stranded

A mechanic at the authorized Autoappennino service in Rioveđo, Italy, warned that owners of certain Volkswagen models with gasoline engines and manual gearboxes may experience a sudden loss of drive after 60,000‑80,000 km. The problem is traced to the auxiliary clutch cylinder, a small component above the gearbox; when it fails the clutch pedal remains pressed and the vehicle cannot be shifted, rendering it immobile.

The defect has been observed in at least six Volkswagen Polo, Taigo and T‑Roc cars, all of which required tow assistance. Volkswagen has not issued an official recall or confirmed a systematic fault, and the manufacturer’s service‑campaign list does not mention the models. The mechanic has urged Volkswagen to investigate the issue.
