Volkswagen restructures amid shifts in European auto market
The European automotive industry is facing significant shifts. Volkswagen is implementing a major restructuring plan to address high costs, excessive complexity, and a heavy dependence on the Chinese market. This plan involves reducing the number of models and suppliers, which may impact tens of thousands of jobs and address an annual excess capacity of over half a million vehicles in Europe.
In the Spanish market, the Dacia Sandero ECO-G, a model from the Romanian manufacturer Dacia, has emerged as a top seller. The vehicle utilizes an LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) engine, allowing it to achieve an ECO label and a total range of 1,590 km using both fuel tanks. This success highlights a competitive alternative to the increasing presence of Chinese automotive brands in the region.
