Volkswagen sees high demand for affordable EVs as Audi explores driving sensations

Volkswagen Group is seeing significant demand for its new affordable electric vehicle models. The Volkswagen ID. Polo has received over 30,000 orders since bookings opened in April, with high interest particularly in Germany. Other models, including the Škoda Epiq and Cupra Raval, have also become sales hits, with some versions facing waiting lists of up to ten months and production schedules extending into 2027.

In a separate development regarding electric vehicle driving experiences, Audi has filed a patent aimed at making EVs feel more like internal combustion engine vehicles. The proposal includes methods to transfer actual electric motor vibrations into the cabin, simulate gear shifts, and introduce artificial delays during acceleration. The patent even suggests the possibility of making the electric motor intentionally louder or allowing it to rev while the vehicle is stationary to mimic a neutral gear experience.
