Volkswagen leads Fortune 500 Europe for third consecutive year

Volkswagen has secured the top position on the Fortune 500 Europe list for the third consecutive year, reporting revenue of over $363 billion. This growth comes despite increased competition from Chinese automotive manufacturers and tariff pressures.

Across the list, which includes companies from 23 countries and 21 sectors, total revenue reached a record $15.5 trillion, representing approximately half of the European economy. Combined profits for the listed companies rose by 3% to over $1 trillion. However, profit margins for the top group decreased to 6.5%, down from 7.1% the previous year.

The financial sector remains dominant, accounting for 24% of total revenue and 40% of total profits. HSBC was identified as the most profitable company on the list, reporting $22 billion in profits. Other top-ranking companies include Shell in second place, Glencore in third, and BP in fourth.
