Volkswagen unveils Mission Efficiency electric concept

Volkswagen has unveiled the Mission Efficiency concept, an electric vehicle designed to demonstrate high efficiency using mass-market technology. Built on the standard MEB+ platform, the concept aims to show how aerodynamic optimization can significantly extend the range of production-ready electric models.

The vehicle achieved a drag coefficient of 0.158 and recorded energy consumption as low as 6.48 kWh to 7.5 kWh per 100 km during testing. In a real-world trial traveling from Poland through the Czech Republic to Vienna, the car utilized a 54.9 kWh battery and required only one charge, arriving in Vienna with a remaining range of 164 km.

Volkswagen brand CEO Thomas Schäfer stated that the project demonstrates the potential of affordable manufacturing technology, noting that the vehicle uses components similar to the ID. Polo and ID. Cross to provide efficiency for the masses rather than just a niche group. The concept is a two-door coupe measuring 4,775 mm in length with a 2+2 seating arrangement.
