Volkswagen unveils redesigned 2027 Atlas Cross Sport SUV
Volkswagen has unveiled the second generation of the Atlas Cross Sport, a five-seat mid-size SUV designed primarily for the North American market. Scheduled for release in early 2027, the new model is built on the updated MQB Evo platform and features a significant redesign of both its exterior and interior.
The exterior overhaul includes a more athletic, coupe-like silhouette with a lower roofline and a shorter rear overhang compared to the standard three-row Atlas. Key design elements include stacked LED headlights, an illuminated Volkswagen badge, and a full-width rear light bar. The vehicle will be available in several wheel sizes, ranging from 18 to 21 inches, and new paint options such as Blackberry Metallic and Dark Sage Metallic.
Inside, the cabin has been upgraded to a more premium standard, featuring a wraparound dashboard, wood trim, and ambient lighting. Technology enhancements include a 15-inch infotainment display on most trims and a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster. The driver’s seat now offers 12-way power adjustments, with massage functions available on higher trims. Performance is driven by an updated 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 282 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and available 4Motion all-wheel drive.
