Volkswagen updates vehicle lineup and production strategy
Volkswagen is implementing significant operational and product updates across its lineup. In Pamplona, Spain, the company has commenced production of the ID. Cross, an electric SUV designed to complement the ID. Polo. This move is part of a broader restructuring of Volkswagen’s production governance, which shifts decision-making from individual brand boards to regional Chief Production Officers to optimize costs and efficiency.
The group is also updating several key models. The ID. 3 has been redesigned as the ID. 3 Neo, offering various battery capacities with a top WLTP range of up to 630 kilometers. The Passat has transitioned exclusively to a Variant (estate) model in Europe, featuring a larger wheelbase and increased cargo capacity. Additionally, the T-Roc has entered its second generation, growing in size and introducing a full hybrid option while phasing out diesel and manual transmissions. The Tiguan continues to serve as a major volume driver in the SUV segment with multiple powertrain options including mild-hybrid and plug-in-hybrid.
