Zelenskyy rejects Moscow visit proposal during UN General Assembly
During the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin to hold peace talks in Moscow. When approached by Russian state media journalists asking when he would visit the Russian capital, Zelenskyy responded sharply, stating he would only arrive 'on a rocket.'
Zelenskyy has maintained that while he is willing to meet Putin to resolve the conflict, such discussions must occur in a neutral location to avoid the appearance of subordination to Moscow. Despite the caustic response, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov claimed that Zelenskyy has not officially ruled out a visit to Moscow.
On the sidelines of the UN assembly, Zelenskyy also met with Donald Trump to discuss potential diplomatic paths and winter preparedness. Discussions included the possibility of halting attacks on energy infrastructure, provided both nations reciprocate, and the continued production of Patriot missile interceptors for Ukraine.
