Volodymyr Zelenskyy's planned Brussels visit canceled
The planned visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Brussels for high-level negotiations has been canceled. The meeting was intended to include representatives from the United States, the European Union, and NATO to discuss security guarantees and diplomatic efforts to end the war with Russia.
Zelenskyy's advisor, Dmytro Litvin, stated that Kyiv could not confirm the visit due to changes in plans from the United States side. The discussions were originally expected to take place on October 27 or 28 and would have included NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
The European Commission confirmed its continued involvement in diplomatic efforts for a lasting peace in Ukraine but noted it had no additional information regarding the cancellation at this stage.
This development follows recent diplomatic dialogues in Oslo, where Zelenskyy met with U.S. special representative Steve Witkoff, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. Following those talks, Witkoff reportedly met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Saint Petersburg.
