Greek city councils schedule June 2026 meetings in Volos, Heraklion and Patras
On 22 June 2026 municipal councils in Heraklion and Patras will meet to consider a wide range of local issues. The Heraklion council will discuss the maintenance and upgrade of the Eleftherios Venizelos statue, costs of social structures, cultural performances, temporary traffic regulations, budget revisions for the EU STEP‑UP pedestrian program, and several infrastructure projects such as road resurfacing and park upgrades. The Patras council will review proposals including an underground train line with a surface park, master‑plan impacts on the new port, extensions of land‑use agreements, compensation for property owners affected by road re‑zoning, and the creation of a network of public spaces.
The Volos Municipal Committee will hold its regular session on 24 June 2026 to approve procurement contracts for civil‑protection equipment, cemetery maintenance budgets, road‑maintenance contracts, lighting projects for 2026‑2029, playground equipment purchases, and adjustments to municipal fees and tax rebates. The meeting will also address the procurement of gas‑line modifications for local schools and the renewal of social‑service structures for disabled residents.
Additionally, the Patras municipality confirmed that the scheduled screening of Pantelis Voulgaris’s film "The Last Note" will proceed on 22 June at 21:00 in the town hall auditorium.
