Volos court sentences man for assault on 56-year-old

A 26-year-old man has been sentenced to nine months of imprisonment with a three-year suspension by the Volos Misdemeanor Court. He was found guilty of dangerous bodily harm and damage to property following an attack on a 56-year-old man in September 2021.

The incident occurred at a cafe on Giannis Dimou Street in Volos. The victim testified that while he was at the register to pay, he was suddenly attacked from behind by the assailant, who was 21 at the time. The victim sustained injuries to his cheek, jaw, and head, requiring stitches, and his dentures were completely destroyed, causing approximately 1,000 euros in damages.

The defendant claimed he acted because he believed the victim was harassing his pregnant partner, who was working as a waitress at the establishment. The court rejected these claims and issued the conviction.
