Violence reported in Greek cities Lamia and Volos targeting taxis

Two separate violent incidents involving taxis have been reported in the Greek cities of Lamia and Volos.

In Lamia, two taxi drivers were attacked by two men at a taxi stand on Vourtsela Street. The assault reportedly began after one of the attackers discovered a police traffic fine on his motorcycle, which he mistakenly believed the drivers had reported. One driver was struck in the neck and hospitalized, while his colleague sustained minor injuries. Local taxi association officials have expressed outrage over the incident.

In Volos, a group of approximately ten youths allegedly intercepted a taxi on the beachfront near the intersection of Argonauton and Korai streets. The group reportedly forced the passengers, who are noted to be from Skopelos, out of the vehicle and assaulted them. At least one person was injured and transported to Volos Hospital. Authorities, including the Coast Guard, are investigating whether the attack was linked to a prior altercation at a local nightclub.
