Volta Cup rebranded to drive football development in Ghana

The Volta Regional Ministers’ Cup has been rebranded as the ‘Volta Cup’ to establish a lasting legacy for football development in Ghana’s Volta Region. Volta Regional Minister James Gunu stated the rebranding aims to ensure the tournament's continuity beyond successive political administrations, viewing football as both a passion and a professional business capable of transforming communities.

The inaugural tournament concluded with the Northern Sector A team defeating Southern Sector B in a penalty shootout. The competition featured eight teams and served as a scouting platform for the regional Under-19 squad. Top performers were also promised opportunities for trial matches in Portugal.

Minister Gunu emphasized the government's commitment to providing infrastructure for youth sports. The event was attended by former Black Stars captain André Ayew and his brother Ibrahim Ayew.
