Volta Redonda hosts Olimpede paraesporte competition

Volta Redonda is hosting the Olimpede 2026, an inclusive sports competition for people with physical and intellectual disabilities. The event is organized by the Volta Redonda City Hall through its Municipal Secretariat of Sport and Leisure.

Approximately 2,500 people from 111 entities are expected to participate. Athletes from Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, and the Federal District will compete in roughly 100 events, including athletics, swimming, boccia, futsal, judo, and the debut of capoeira. Raphael Thuin, president of the Paraesporte Association, noted the event serves as a vital moment for student inclusion and individual development.
