Volta Region HSWU launches breast cancer awareness campaign

The Women’s Committee of the Health Service Workers Union (HSWU) in the Volta Region has launched a breast cancer awareness campaign in partnership with the Ketu South Municipal Hospital and Health Directorate. The initiative aims to raise public awareness, promote early detection, and improve access to screening services across regional communities.

During the launch, medical professionals educated participants on recognizing warning signs and the importance of seeking prompt medical attention. Practical sessions were held to demonstrate breast awareness, though experts cautioned that self-examination must be supplemented by professional clinical examinations. Planned activities to extend the campaign include weekly health education sessions, free clinical screenings, and radio engagements.
