Voltpost launches ceiling-mounted EV chargers to reduce installation costs
Voltpost, a New York-based startup, has launched two new Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) chargers designed to simplify the installation of charging infrastructure in existing buildings. The new lineup includes the Voltpost Air Ceiling Mount, intended for parking garages, and the Air Surface Mount, which attaches to walls or pedestals.
By utilizing overhead mounting and retractable cables, the company aims to avoid the need for trenching or digging up pavement. Voltpost claims this approach can reduce installation costs by up to 70% and complete the process in hours rather than days. The chargers can be configured with one or two ports and support both J1772 and NACS connectors, delivering up to 9.6 kW of power.
The system integrates with AT&T’s cellular network for remote monitoring and is compatible with various navigation platforms, including Google Maps, Apple Maps, and Waze. This expansion follows Voltpost’s previous work converting lampposts and telephone poles into kerbside charging points.
