Volunteer fire departments host community open house events

Volunteer fire departments in Germany and Luxembourg recently hosted open house events to engage the public and recruit new members.

In Frickenhausen, Germany, the local fire department organized an action day featuring demonstrations of thermal imaging cameras in smoky environments and the presentation of a new mobile flood barrier. The event included a simulated traffic accident rescue performed by the Babenhausen fire department and a demonstration of the dangers of grease fires.

In Canach, Luxembourg, the Centre d’Incendie et de Secours held a ‘Meet & Greet’ day. Visitors were given insights into daily operations, including technical assistance, firefighting, and first responder duties. The event offered hands-on activities such as CPR refresher training and water pressure demonstrations to encourage interest in joining the service.
