Volunteer youth camps engage hundreds in Galicia, Spain
A group of about 21 young people of Galician descent living abroad took part in the "Arousa Azul" environmental camp in Vilanova de Arousa. Participants from Argentina, Venezuela, Uruguay, Brazil and Cuba cleaned beaches and the sea, working under the "Conecta con el Voluntariado en Galicia 2026" programme. The mayor, Gonzalo Durán, and sports councillor Eliana Vidal welcomed Secretary General of Emigration Antonio Rodríguez Miranda, highlighting the initiative’s role in reinforcing diaspora ties and protecting the local environment. The edition offered 50 places.
Separately, the youth association Amencer prepared its 39th urban camp, "Cidade de Ourense", by restoring the iconic mural on Saénz Díez street. The free camp will run from 3‑13 August in Ourense, using the Salesianos school facilities and offering a children’s program (ages 8‑16) and a youth programme (16+). Registration opens on 3 August after a pre‑camp gathering on 1 August, with organisers expecting strong local participation.
