Volvo 850 T5-R: A rare 350 bhp classic estate

Motorsport enthusiast Neil Cotty owns a rare 1995 Volvo 850 T5-R estate finished in Cream Yellow. Originally part of a limited 200-unit allocation in the United Kingdom, fewer than 60 saloons and estates are estimated to remain in the country.

Developed with assistance from Porsche on the engine and transmission, the T5-R was a high-performance derivative of the 850 Turbo. While the original factory model produced 237 bhp from its 2.3-litre five-cylinder 20-valve engine, Cotty’s version has been tuned to reach 350 bhp. The vehicle features aerodynamic enhancements including a rear spoiler, side skirts, and a prominent front lip.

The model gained popularity following the success of the Super Touring 850 estate in the British Touring Car Championship. Cotty, who maintains his own workshop, acquired the manual gearbox model after a long search driven by his passion for touring car racing.
