NVIDIA expands autonomous driving partnerships with European automakers

At the GTC Berlin conference, NVIDIA announced a major expansion of its autonomous driving ecosystem through its Hyperion computing and sensor platform. Several leading European automotive and mobility companies are adopting the technology to develop Level 3 and Level 4 autonomous vehicles and robotaxi fleets.

Key partnerships include:

• Mercedes-Benz: Extending a decade-long strategic collaboration to integrate its MB.OS with NVIDIA’s hardware and AI software, targeting Level 4 luxury vehicles. • Volvo Cars: Deepening its partnership to combine safety engineering with the Hyperion platform, Halos OS, and Alpamayo Stack for next-generation vehicles. • Bolt: Partnering to deploy a fleet of at least 25,000 Lucid-based robotaxis in Europe, with initial data collection planned for Madrid in 2027. • Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles: Showcasing the ID. Buzz AD platform for autonomous passenger and commercial transport. • Einride: Utilizing the platform to develop next-generation autonomous freight systems.

To support these developments, NVIDIA introduced the Halos SAFE framework, designed to provide traceable safety certification by combining simulation with real-world testing data. Additionally, TIER IV and the Technical University of Munich are collaborating to integrate Hyperion with the open-source Autoware software to accelerate Level 4 autonomous driving research in Germany.
