Volvo Cars launches Safety Coach to link driving behavior with insurance
Volvo Cars has introduced Safety Coach, an optional driving assistant application designed to monitor driving habits and potentially reduce insurance premiums. Developed in partnership with Cambridge Mobile Telematics, the app uses advanced algorithms to generate a personal safety score based on parameters such as braking, acceleration, cornering, and speed limit compliance.
Users can access real-time insights and safety tips through their vehicle’s infotainment screen or the Volvo Cars mobile app. The system is compatible with most Volvo models produced from 2020 onwards that utilize a Google-based Android multimedia system.
The service is launching this month in Sweden and Norway, where Volvo drivers may receive exclusive offers from the insurance firm Volvia if they choose to share their driving data. Volvo plans to expand the Safety Coach and related insurance-linked offers to the United States and other European markets in the near future.
