Volvo V70 targeted in Swedish car part theft wave

Swedish police have issued a warning regarding a wave of thefts targeting older vehicles, particularly in the Halland region on the west coast. The thefts typically occur at night and involve the rapid removal of car parts, such as front ends, headlights, and side mirrors.

The Volvo V70 has been identified as the most targeted model during August, accounting for approximately one-third of the reported break-ins. Authorities suggest the model's popularity and the high resale value of its spare parts, such as headlights which can fetch over 6,000 SEK, may drive the targeting of these specific vehicles.

While overall car theft statistics in Sweden have shown a downward trend—with reported thefts dropping from nearly 35,000 in 2024 to 28,946 in 2025—the theft of specific components remains a significant issue.
