Vonovia offers to build housing for the Bundeswehr

Vonovia, Germany’s largest real estate company, has expressed its readiness to build and manage housing for the Bundeswehr. CEO Luka Mucic noted that while housing availability is not a universal issue for the military, it remains a challenge in certain cities, such as Berlin.

Mucic suggested that serial construction in designated residential areas could provide relatively rapid solutions for soldiers and their families. He stated that dialogue with military officials has already taken place, and the decision now rests with the Bundeswehr and the Ministry of Defense regarding whether to pursue the proposal.

The initiative comes as the Bundeswehr aims to meet new NATO targets, which require increasing active personnel from approximately 187,000 to at least 260,000 members.
