Texas DPS seeks fugitive Charles Demond Ward

The Texas Department of Public Safety is seeking assistance in locating Charles Demond Ward, a fugitive considered armed and dangerous. Ward is a documented member of the Bloods gang with a history of violent offenses.

Ward was previously convicted in Upshur County in 2008 for the aggravated assault of a child. His criminal record also includes multiple convictions between 2010 and 2019 for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements, as well as convictions for assault causing bodily injury to a family member.

A warrant was issued by the Vernon Police Department in May 2026 for his failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements. Ward is described as a 40-year-old Black male, standing 5'9" and weighing 220 pounds, with tattoos on both arms and his left wrist, scars on his back, and a gold tooth. He has known ties to several Texas counties, including Gregg, Upshur, Smith, Wilbarger, and Bexar.
