Vorarlberg parties seek to review social housing construction standards
In Vorarlberg, the ÖVP and FPÖ parties are calling for a review of construction standards in social housing to reduce construction and renovation costs. The proposal aims to examine whether certain technical requirements and additional amenities—such as bicycle rooms, indoor waste rooms, underground parking, and social rooms—are strictly necessary.
To facilitate this, a research project titled ‘Gebäudetyp V’ is already underway, involving the construction of a building that intentionally deviates from current norms to test potential adjustments without compromising quality. Additionally, an evaluation of the building technology ordinance is occurring, covering areas such as reinforced concrete, lightning protection, roofing, impact sound, and hallway widths.
