Vorarlberger Kinderdorf seeks volunteers for family support
The Vorarlberger Kinderdorf is searching for volunteers across Vorarlberg to act as play companions for families in need of assistance. According to Elisabeth Dornstetter, there is a particular demand for support in the Feldkirch and Dornbirn districts, though the need extends to other municipalities as well.
Currently, 166 volunteers provide between two and three hours of help per week. These individuals assist families by walking with babies, playing with children, reading, crafting, or visiting playgrounds. This support is aimed at relieving parents facing challenges such as a lack of social networks, raising twins or multiple births, managing illnesses, or navigating the difficulties of single parenthood.
Volunteers receive guidance from coordinators at Familienimpulse and are offered regular meetings, cultural activities, and opportunities for further training or personal development.
