Vossloh and Futrifer launch railway maintenance joint venture in Morocco
German rail equipment maker Vossloh and Portuguese firm Futrifer Indústrias Ferroviárias have created a joint venture called Vossloh Futrifer Services Maroc. Based in Casablanca, the company began operations on 1 July and will provide maintenance services – including rail welding, grinding, milling and turnouts – for Morocco’s state‑owned railway operator ONCF and the urban networks of Casablanca and Rabat.
The venture will initially operate with experienced teams from Vossloh Services France and Futrifer, and from 2027 aims to recruit and train Moroccan staff, strengthening local expertise. Vossloh also participates in an industry‑wide effort to establish a vocational training centre for the railway sector in Morocco. Marcel Taubert, Managing Director of Vossloh Rail Services, said the joint venture “strengthens our position in North Africa and supports sustainable mobility.” Joaquim Dias Amaro, Vice‑Chairman of Futrifer, highlighted the move as expanding Futrifer’s international footprint.
The launch aligns with Morocco’s Rail Plan 2040, which envisions up to 1,300 km of high‑speed lines and extensive rail infrastructure development.
