Voter ID cards discovered on Narmada Riverbank in Madhya Pradesh
A total of 343 voter identity cards were found abandoned on the banks of the Narmada River in Mandleshwar, located in the Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh. The cards were discovered by residents during a cleanliness drive along the riverbank.
Preliminary reports indicate that the identity cards belong to the Rau Assembly constituency in the neighboring Indore district. Following the discovery, a video of the recovered cards circulated on social media.
The Congress party has demanded the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) and an impartial investigation into the incident. District Congress president Ravi Naik has called for a search operation using divers to check for additional discarded cards and has questioned the functioning of the Election Commission.
Mandleshwar Sub-Divisional Officer of Police Shweta Shukla confirmed that the revenue team has seized the cards and that the police station in-charge has been directed to investigate the matter.
