US Midterm Elections: Voter registration deadlines and legal challenges

As the November 3 midterm elections approach, several states are reaching critical voter registration deadlines. Residents in Texas, Florida, and Arizona must register by October 5. Meanwhile, the deadline has already passed for voters in Alaska, Rhode Island, and South Carolina.

In Georgia, October 5 is also the final day for registration. The state's election timeline includes early voting beginning October 13, with mandatory Saturday voting on October 17 and 24. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is October 23.

Legal challenges to voting access are also emerging. In Tarrant County, Texas, four civic leaders have filed a lawsuit seeking an injunction to restore polling locations that officials recently reduced. Additionally, rights groups like Asian Americans Advancing Justice are working to help voters navigate barriers such as strict ID requirements and potential intimidation at the polls.
