Organizations across the United States held events for the 14th annual National Voter Registration Day to encourage civic participation ahead of upcoming elections.

In New York City, groups including Headcount and NYC Votes hosted a registration event near Washington Square Park. The initiative aimed to reach youth near universities such as NYU and City Tech. NYC Votes reported that 94.3% of eligible NYC voters were registered in 2025, noting a significant increase in first-time voters compared to previous years.

In Washington, D.C., the student group GU Votes conducted its annual registration drive at Georgetown University’s Red Square. The drive seeks to prepare students for the November 3 midterm elections, which include races for mayor, attorney general, and the non-voting delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives. The D.C. mayoral race will notably feature the city’s first election using ranked-choice voting.
