Votuporanga City Council to vote on parklet regulations
The Votuporanga City Council in São Paulo has scheduled two projects for voting during its 35th ordinary session. A primary focus of the session is the regulation of parklets, which are temporary sidewalk extensions designed to replace parking spaces with social areas.
The proposed legislation allows for the installation of benches, planters, tables, and chairs to promote public interaction. Under the proposed model, the private sector would be responsible for the installation and maintenance of these structures, while the municipality would grant the use of the public space for a three-year term.
