Votuporanga proposes bill to implement parklets via private partnerships

The Commercial Association of Votuporanga (ACV) and the local government have introduced a bill to regulate the implementation of parklets in Votuporanga, Brazil. These structures serve as temporary sidewalk extensions in areas previously used for vehicle parking.

Under the proposed legislation, which will be sent to the City Council for approval, the installation and maintenance of these urban elements will be funded and managed through partnerships with the private sector. The spaces are intended to include benches, planters, tables, chairs, and bicycle racks to promote social interaction and leisure.

Urban Planning Secretary Tássia Gélio Coleta stated that the initiative aims to transform parking areas into equipment for leisure, culture, and coexistence, following successful models seen in larger urban centers.
