Vox secures public posts and agenda influence in Andalusia coalition government

Vox has announced that, as part of its coalition agreement with the People’s Party (PP) to install Juanma Moreno as president of Andalusia, it will obtain positions in regional public bodies, including a seat on the board of the public broadcaster Canal Sur. The party is also set to lead a “super‑ministry” covering tourism, justice, local administration and deregulation, and has pushed for the adoption of its “national priority” agenda, which emphasizes stricter immigration controls, tax cuts and opposition to regional autonomy measures.

The coalition extends beyond Andalusia. The PP has formed similar agreements with Vox in Extremadura, Aragon and Castilla y León, granting the far‑right party influence over policy areas such as immigration, abortion and electoral law. Vox has also floated institutional reforms, including a proposal to amend Congress rules to dissolve groups it deems insufficiently patriotic and a bill to strip Spanish nationality for any criminal conviction.

Opposition parties, including the PSOE and Podemos, have condemned the agreements as “racist, inhumane and sexist”, warning that the pact gives the ultraconservative agenda unprecedented access to public institutions across Spain.
