VOX demands accountability over security issues in Catalonia
The VOX parliamentary group in Catalonia has launched a political offensive against Interior Minister Núria Parlon and Justice Minister Ramon Espadaler, citing concerns over public and prison security. The party is demanding parliamentary appearances to address recent incidents, including a violent confrontation between merchants and alleged thieves in Lleida, an assault on an official at the Brians 2 penitentiary, and unauthorized access to confidential information at the Figueres prison.
VOX is seeking clarification on police response times, the status of detained minors, and the prevalence of recidivism in various neighborhoods. Additionally, the party has announced a demonstration in Lleida scheduled for September 15 to protest against mass immigration and the perceived rise of Islamism. Following a memorial for the victims of the 2017 Barcelona and Cambrils attacks, VOX spokesperson Joan Garriga criticized the government and stated the party would seek legal action against the central government regarding migration issues in Ceuta.
