Vox demands end to extra fees for school materials in public education

Vox spokesperson Iván Sánchez has called on the Ministry of Education to end the practice of public schools requesting additional payments from families for materials such as photocopies, agendas, and school trips. Vox argues that these charges violate the principle of free public education during compulsory stages and may lead to the exclusion and stigmatization of students from families facing economic hardship.

The political group noted that the cost of back-to-school supplies is expected to rise by 15% this year, with an average expenditure of approximately 605 euros per student. Vox has submitted formal inquiries to the Minister of Education, Culture, and Sports, Amador Pastor, demanding intervention to ensure schools receive sufficient budgetary allocations to cover basic operating costs without passing them on to parents.
