Vox deputy uses profanity against Asturias Parliament President
During a political orientation debate in the Parliament of Asturias, Vox deputy Gonzalo Centeno directed profanity toward the President of the Parliament, Juan Cofiño. The incident occurred after Centeno requested to intervene following remarks by Mixed Group deputy Covadonga Tomé, who had accused Vox of violating human rights.
When Cofiño denied the request for intervention, Centeno was warned that continued interruptions would result in his removal from the plenary session. In response, Centeno used the phrase “vaya a tomar por culo por ahí,” which was captured by open microphones and broadcast during the session.
Following the outburst, Cofiño issued a statement clarifying his criteria for granting turns for personal rebuttals, noting they are reserved for grave personal offenses rather than attacks on political groups. He characterized Centeno’s words as a possible “fruit of the excitement of the moment.” Vox issued a statement describing the language as a “colloquial expression resulting from a heated debate.”
