Vox leader Santiago Abascal says he aims for presidency, not vice‑presidency

Vox party leader Santiago Abascal told People's Party (PP) leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo that he does not see himself as a potential vice‑president in any future coalition and intends to run for the presidency. He warned the PP not to "sell the bear's skin before catching it" and said that any alliance with the PP is not guaranteed.

Abascal cited recent regional agreements with the PP in Extremadura, Aragon, Castilla‑La Mancha and Andalusia, claiming that Vox has increased its influence on immigration and tax policy. While emphasizing respect for the PP as a governing partner, he warned that Vox would break the pact if the agreements are not honoured.
