Vox political event in Santiago blocked by over 1,000 protesters
More than one thousand protesters, primarily composed of young anti-fascist activists, prevented a Vox political event from taking place in Santiago de Compostela. The demonstration involved forming a human chain in front of the Centro Sociocultural de Santa Marta, effectively blocking access for party members.
Earlier in the day, dozens of activists entered the facility and occupied it to prevent the scheduled event, which was intended to launch the party's territorial deployment in Galicia ahead of municipal elections. The protesters criticized the party's stance on migration and the municipal government for allowing the venue to be used.
Jorge Buxadé, a member of the Vox leadership and head of the party's delegation in the European Parliament, was unable to access the center. Following the failed attempt, Buxadé blamed the boycott on the central government of Pedro Sánchez and the local mayor, describing the situation as a grave matter. The party has indicated it will pursue legal action against those responsible for the disruption.
