Vox proposes tourism reforms in Andalusia under Vice President Manuel Gavira
The Spanish right‑wing party Vox has outlined a tourism policy for the autonomous community of Andalusia. The party says it opposes the tourist tax that some local mayors have introduced and defends short‑term tourist rentals, arguing they do not worsen the housing shortage. Vox claims that Andalusia does not suffer from "touristophobia" or an excess of visitors, but from poor management of the sector, and it proposes a model that attracts tourists throughout the year rather than concentrating them in the high season.
Vox also pledges to remove administrative barriers for self‑employed operators and small hotel businesses. The proposals are to be overseen by Manuel Gavira, the newly appointed second vice‑president and minister of the Ministry of Tourism, Justice, Deregulation and Local Administration of the Junta de Andalucía, a department whose title has been noted for its length.
The party’s plan suggests that easing regulations and encouraging year‑round tourism could increase the number of tourist apartments, visitors and related commercial activity across Andalusia.
